How to use the Library II: Getting Started

Finding a book in the Stacks in Rush Rhees

What is a call number?

A call number is a unique number assigned to books and other cataloged materials to help locate them on the shelves.

The video above will let you know how to use this to find the items you need. You can always stop by the Rush Rhees Q&i desk if you would like some hands-on help!

Articles & Books

Articles & Books is a good place to start your general search. You can use keywords, author name, or any other information to start. Once you've entered your terms - use the limiters on the left-hand column.

Finding print and electronic books

Besides the Articles & Books Search, the UR Catalog provides another view into the print and electronic resources available to you. Try them both!

Course Reserve

Your textbook might be held on Course Reserve! Don't you love not having to pay for required readings?

Follow the link for circulation information and head to Rush Rhees Q&i to check out reserve items!
