Databases

PubMed
Identifies articles in medicine, biomedicine and psychology, many linked to full text. If you haven't used PubMed before or are having problems, PubMed Quick Tours (1 to 3 minutes) may help. Feel free to contact me if you still have questions or would like a personal introduction to PubMed.

PubMed® comprises more than 30 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites. Includes access to molecular and bioinformatic databases from the NCBI system (previous Entrez). Automatically expands (explodes) subject headings. Truncation turns off this automatic expansion of the hierarchical subject headings.
Web of Science
Identifies research articles in all subjects, many with links to full text. It also identifies cited authors and cited works.

Comprised of three databases that can be searched separately or in combination: Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975-current), Science Citation Index Expanded (1973-current), Social Sciences Citation Index (1973-current).
Biological Science Collection
Identifies articles, books, and papers in biomedicine, biotechnology, neuroscience and zoology.

Covers the literature from over 6000 serials, as well as conference proceedings, technical reports, monographs and selected books and patents. Zoological Record Plus
Identifies articles, books and papers in zoology and animal science, including the nervous system.

Does not provide abstracts; however, the indexing is comprehensive and informative.
ScienceDirect
Search for articles across all journals from Elsevier Science, or limit to subsets in neuroscience or other life sciences.

Includes the sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and clinical medicine. Full text from 1995 on, except as indicated.

Books

Search Articles & Books or the UR Catalog to find books in the University of Rochester Libraries and online.

- To further limit to just ebooks, also check the box for Items with full text online.
UR Catalog identifies a variety of library materials, including books, but it does not identify articles.
