New Public Access Policies

Many federal funding agencies are creating new Public Access Policies in response to the OSTP Memo released in August 2022 on "Ensuring Free, Immediate, and Equitable Access to Federally Funded Research." Colloquially, this is referred to as the Nelson Memo. Here, you can find links to various funders to learn about their new Public Access Policies.

National Institutes of Health - NIH

Final NIH Policy for Data Management and Sharing: Went live on January 25, 2023

Draft of the New Public Access Policy - The NIH is currently requesting comments till August 19, 2024 from the public on their Draft Public Access Policy.

National Endowment for the Humanities - NEH

Developing a Public Access Plan - The NEH has not released a draft of their new policy yet, but they do have a webpage where they discuss their plans.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration - NASA

National Science Foundation - NSF

NSF Public Access Plan - Ensuring Open, Immediate and Equitable Access to National Science Foundation Funded Research - Released February 2023, read the full policy which will be implemented January 1, 2025.
