Before making your first Wikipedia edit, it is important to create your own account. In addition to making it easier for you to track your contributions, having an established Wikipedia account allows you to create new entries immediately and provides a sense of ownership for your work. One of your goals when editing Wikipedia should be to improve or develop the body of knowledge around a topic – having an account lets you stand by the content you create.
